Jack Devine's
Giant-Scale sport-scale P-51 Mustang R/C model kit Price: $330.00
With the Jack Devine P-51 Mustang
model, much of the work has already been done for you. Imagine opening the box
and finding a fully-formed foam frame waiting there for you! You won't
have to imagine what your model is going to look like framed up. The frame
is done, the shape is already complete! All that's left to do is follow
the easy video instructions for capping, sheeting, and installing some hard
points like a firewall and landing gear blocks, and your model is ready for gear
and finish! Once you look at it you'll realize with a Warbird this size
just how quickly you can be in the air compared to a stick-built model.
There's just no comparison in building time, a Jack Devine model builds faster every
time!
What can we tell you about
the P-51 Mustang that you don't already know? Famous for their speed,
toughness, and agility, the P-51 could outmaneuver or outrun virtually anything
it came up against. The Tuskeegee Airmen flew the Red-Tailed P-51's of
fame as bomber escorts, and never lost an allied bomber to enemy fighters!
With the kind of history behind a plane like this, who wouldn't want a P-51
model, right?
But many modelers have found that the heavy wingloading of
most stick-built P-51 models makes flying those models a scary proposition!
You often hear phrases at the fields such as "I have to fly it right onto
the ground!". That's no fun. A landing approach should mean a
slow-flying model, and typically, stick-built warbirds are just too heavy to do that.
Break the
"Weight Barrier" that has existed between modelers and great flying
warbirds for so long!!
How? With a Jack Devine P-51 model! Jack Devine's Giant-scale P-51 R/C kit is built with foam-core
technology, and the result is a sport-scale model that has super-light wingloading, which is
the criteria for a good-flying, good-landing warbird model. Good-looking,
too! The perfect blank canvas for your scale warbird project. It's fun to
build, and as tough as the original P-51 (And nearly as fast!)! Just ask
Don Hopper. Shown above is his beautiful Jack Devine P-51D Mustang
model. More photos of it on our P-51 photo pages. We also have a
P-51 B version available, just ask!
With a Jack Devine model, there's no need for
average flyers considering their first warbird to
fear the big building project or the unforgiving flying characteristics typically attributed to
warbird models. This
Mustang is made to fly well under all conditions, slow or fast! This kit (shown
below) is easy and enjoyable to build using our step-by-step instructional video which guides
you through the capping and sheeting of all the foam pieces. Are you wondering
about the processes involved? This website also has building articles
filled with a variety of tips and techniques to help answer many of your
construction questions, both now and after you start building your Jack Devine model!
The wings have
pre-cut control surfaces, flaps, servo pockets and wire channels. All necessary
hardware, all of the balsa you will need for sheeting, landing gear, fiberglass cowling and a Lexan canopy are included.
Cutting for retractable landing gear is optional. Uses Robart Retracts
Model #622 with 4"wheels.
