_______________________________________________________________
This P-47 Razorback belongs to Jack
Devine himself. Shown here with Jack's son Jason. Jack says that Jason is
the painter of this plane and gets all the credit for the great finish you see
here. In fact, between Jason and his brother Jon, all of Jack's
planes have stunning finishes on them. Both of them are auto body
technicians, and as you can see, they're good at what they do! Gee, Jack,
want to rent your kids out for a week or two to some of us less-fortunate
modelers?
Jack gives special thanks to both of his sons for taking the time to make every
model look like a million bucks.
This P-47 has a complete cockpit and
scale pilot, Robart retracts, is powered by a Zenoah G-62 with a Brisson
muffler.
Jack went to the trouble to make real
flaps to scale out his model, and he says that even at 24 pounds, the flaps are
very effective and landings are slow and stable. Of course, Jack says,
this is pretty typical of Jack Devine
Warbird kits anyway. He should know!
You'll find Jack's own models shown all over this website!
This Razorback is fiberglassed and
painted with PPG automotive basecoat/clearcoat, the numbers and letters are
vinyl and were applied before the clearcoat was laid on, for added
protection. The G-62 hauls it around the sky with authority. This
plane was modeled after a P-47 from the 83rd Fighter squadron, 78th Fighter
group, and flew out of Duxford, England in 1944.
Jack's Razorback is a terrific
example of how much scale detail you can add to a Jack
Devine model and still have a
model light enough to enjoy flying every weekend. Let's face it, weight is
our enemy. Because our models frame up extremely light, weight is much
less of an issue. But whether you build your model to Sport-Scale, or go
crazy on scale details, you can count on your Jack
Devine model to look good and REALLY
FLY!
We'd like to Thank Jack Devine for his contributions
here. The word on the street is that Jack is going to be sending us some
great shots of his new Focke-Wulf FW-190A and also his Bearcat , both of which
are just about finished! ( Drool, Drool! )
